Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Take some time to relax and acclimatize before the adventure begins.

Day 2: Arusha to Lake Natron

Set off early from Arusha and journey towards Lake Natron, a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, keep an eye out for birds such as the Pink-backed Pelican, Yellow-billed Stork, and Grey-headed Kingfisher. Arrive and settle into your lodge overlooking the shimmering lake.

Day 3: Birding at Lake Natron

Spend the day exploring the diverse birdlife around Lake Natron. Witness the breathtaking spectacle of flocks of Lesser Flamingos painting the lake pink, while searching for other species like Fischer’s Sparrowlark, African Skimmer, and Kori Bustard in the surrounding areas.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park

Leave Lake Natron behind and make your way to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its diverse bird population. As you traverse this beautiful park, keep an eye out for the stunning Lilac-breasted Roller, Northern Carmine Bee-eater, and the iconic African Fish Eagle. Enjoy game drives and soak in the remarkable wildlife sightings.

Day 5: Tarangire to Lake Manyara

After breakfast, journey to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its flamingos, pelicans, and tree-climbing lions. Explore the park’s diverse habitats, including the soda lake, dense forests, and grassy plains. Witness the captivating sight of numerous water birds, including the Great White Pelican, Marabou Stork, and Grey Crowned Crane.

Day 6: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today, you will embark on a scenic drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Explore the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, home to a vast array of bird species such as the Black-winged Lapwing, Augur Buzzard, and Lesser Kestrel. Day 7: Lake Eyasi

Day 8: Serengeti National Park

Witness the vastness of this breathtaking wilderness as you search for species such as the Secretary Bird, Tawny Eagle, and Superb Starling. Enjoy thrilling game drives and marvel at the incredible wildebeest migration (seasonal).

Day 9: Serengeti Birding

Continue exploring the magnificent Serengeti, focusing on its diverse birdlife. Explore different habitats, including grasslands, riverine forests, and acacia woodlands, to spot a wide range of species. Look out for the dazzling Bearded Barbet, African Grey Hornbill, and the superbly camouflaged African Scops-Owl.

Day 10: Departure

Bid farewell to the Serengeti as you embark on your journey back to Arusha. Reflect on the remarkable birding expedition you experienced in Tanzania before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
